Microsoft Store employees perform dance of the cringe
(via engadget)
WTF? Is that Microsofts’ mandated exercise regime for their (ahem) ‘healthier’ employees and customers? At least bring in some aerobicize steps or Tai Bo boxing moves to make it challenging.
That’s the fucking lamest attempt at “fun” I’ve seen since their Windows 7 release party video. I can just see their HR/PR/Marketing people in some lifeless Redmond boardroom scheming that stinking pile of crap up over endless disposable cups of Starbucks…
“How can we be better than Apple? I know. Let’s infuse some Zappo’s corporate zaniness into our library-sized sales floor by strongly encouraging our employees to dance MS-approved steps when the MS-approved music starts to play. And if a customer actually needs help, or wants to buy something they will have to wait the full 4 minutes and 44 seconds until said employees burn their MS-approved 220 calories turning in circles and clapping their hands.”
Aye carrumba. Some of those guys are going to work up a smelly sweat moving like that. And I doubt it’ll help their sales quota, though it might make the lines shorter at their Microsoft Answers Suite. They have a Suite inside the store? Wonder if they’ll mind when I take a nap on the couch?
Holy hell. I’m going to have to visit that store when I’m home for Xmas. It’s at the Mission Viejo Mall apparently. A mere 3 miles from my brother’s house.
Disclaimer: I too had to “act” like I was having fun for a job once. It was at a summer camp. I was a counselor. And lucky for me I was having fun since my audience was entirely too impressionable and under 16.
