Some photos I took at the 2008 Iron Horse Classic Criterium. A “crit” is where you ride around in a circle with a bunch of other highly fueled cyclists for a certain length of time (5 minutes, 30 minutes, 45 minutes or an hour depending on your age and rank), then at that time they do a 5 lap dash for first place. Just watching them avoid giant cracks and crevasses in the asphalt is exciting.

Ironically, the worst injury happened in the for-fun “cruiser crit” when a man in a kid trailer broke his ankle trying to break his fall when the guy pulling him negotiated a turn too fast.
