Srikumar Rao: Plug into your hard-wired happiness
Do you invest in the process, or the outcome?
I love this.
And it makes me feel good that the list of credits is long and not just the work of one guy…
First off: Reputation, Posterity and Cool are traps. They’ll drain the life from your life. Reputation, Posterity and Cool = Fear.
Patton Oswalt’s commencement speech at his old high school
I love Patton Oswalt. He never fails to amaze, and this speech is especially poignant. Take 10 minutes right now and be inspired.
One of my constant struggles, the one that occurs every time I flip open my Powerbook, is the struggle between “consuming” and “creating”.
Cooking (and eating) is my favorite method of addressing this struggle. And the Wok my preferred canvas. But I’ll be damned if my intention to create—using this masterwork of technology, the personal computer, with its millions of colors and orchestral range of instruments, and access to the whole wide world—isn’t constantly foiled by my curiosity. And by the staggering amount of brilliant voices, phenomenal images, and delicious sounds available at the upstroke of a finger click.
That said, I think the “Viscosity is a modern art generator” is a nice combination of both create and consume. Hmmmm…. I bet a little screen-capture on the “watch” section with some music to make it dance could be interesting…
