Akoha is a twist on “pay it forward” that mixes the idea of random gift-giving with a card-based game.
How can I not play?

I like the way this guy breaks down the SM landscape, but where’s tumblr? Of course I know where it goes — between publish and share — but still wish it got some cred.
Then again, I like the diversity and relative smallness of Tumblr’s community of Tumblrers.
Anti-hacks attempt to solve problems by approaching them at a higher level of thinking (the prefix ‘anti,’ by the way, can mean ‘instead of’ as in ‘anti-drug,’ or ‘anti-folk’). For example, while David Allen says that ‘mind like water’ (piece of mind) comes from creating exhaustive to-do lists and getting everything out of your head, an anti-hack might involve meditation, because all the list-making in the world will not bring you to a meditative, mind-like-water state.

Lots of great stuff on this list. I’m particularly feeling the effects of #5… The more productive I get, the more is demanded of me. Definitely paints Wally (in Dilbert) in a more positive light.
boston.com’s The Big Picture continues to be my favorite feed of late. Amazing content and photography tell the tale so well.
Add today’s photos of the fires burning across California with this article titled “Fire Season” in National Geographic Magazine this month and it’s a pretty complete (ahem) picture.
Essentially it seems to boil down to the fact that decades of aggressive fire “management”—added to drought and disease—has created our own perfect storm conditions here in the west. Now toss millions of people into the mix…
“In the 1990s, eight million new homes sprouted along the borders of parks and forests, where fires regularly start. The government spends exorbitantly attempting to defend property in these areas. Formally this is known as the wildland-urban interface. Some firefighters call it the stupid zone.” [emphasis mine]
Don’t get me started on the stupid zone.
Very lustable. Promise to ride it passionately. And while I’m still dreaming, I’d like a PSYCHLO-X for the commute. If I sell my ‘02 Focus I might have enough for one of ‘em… Hmmm…
I love Pixar. The NANC•E makes me want to have another kid just so I can see this Nannybot work its magic…

Interesting concept, for sure. Have to wonder just how successful they’ll be with sales over $40? But if the design stays “desirable”, creating scarcity always skews the perceived value.
Reminds me of this idea: WANTS FOR SALE
(via betaworks)
Here’s what I believe…
The world doesn’t need any more people selling crap so they can live a playboy’s life.
It needs people who are committed and passionate about who they are and what impact they want to be having. People for whom each day is an opportunity to do what they love, experience the ripples flowing from their efforts, and be well rewarded for it.
What is that thing that, if you were to choose to do it … fully and without compromise … would stir your soul?
